Ace winger Jonny Smith made his first starting appearance of the season after injury. His Wigan Athletic side won 2-0 at Carlisle United, with Scott Smith also featuring.

Following his brilliant free-kick at the weekend, Ben Tollitt scored a brace for Morecambe in the EFL Trophy. Supported by Jamie Stott, ‘The Shrimps’ beat Nottingham Forest U21 4-2 at the Mazuma Stadium. 

Josh Williams completed a successful 90 minutes for Tranmere Rovers as they beat Accrington Stanley 2-1 at Prenton Park.

Thursday 

EFL Championship defender Harry Souttar switched his focus towards international football with Australia, for their World Cup Qualifying campaign. The Socceroos secured 3 points in AFC Group B by beating China 3-1 in Adelaide.

Saturday

Form man Ben Tollitt struck yet again for Morecambe in League Two. His late goal earned a vital 1-0 victory at Barrow. Ro-Shaun Williams and Jamie Stott did their job defensively and kept a clean sheet.

Josh Lundstram scored for Oldham in their FA Cup qualifying match against Halifax Town. Athletic beat Jack Evans’ men 4-2 at Boundary Park. 

Sunday

Manchester United maintained their 100% start to the WSL season. Ella Toone and Millie Turner inspired a 3-0 win against Tottenham, while Bethany England and Ashleigh Neville featured for Spurs.

Everton drew 1-1 against West Ham United at Walton Hall Park. Youngster Issy Hobson was an unused substitute for ‘The Toffees’. Emma Harries and Kirsty Smith made appearances for ‘The Hammers’.

Taylor Hinds and Lucy Parry suffered disappointment in the big WSL clash at Anfield. Manchester City claimed the 3 points thanks to an added time winner (1-2). 

London City Lionesses & Southampton were both Winners in the Women’s Championship; Georgia Brougham guiding the Lionesses to a 2-0 win against Charlton with Saints pairing Fran Stenson and Tara Bourne beating local rivals Portsmouth 0-5 away from home. #FullNinetyFamily
