Liam successfully progressed through the Leeds United academy system and signed his first professional contract at the Club in the summer of 2018. This following a successful loan that saw him help his hometown club Harrogate Town gain promotion to the National League.
Subsequently, Harrogate Town again enquired about taking Liam on loan for the 2018/19 season. He played 34 games and scored 3 goals, helping them to reach the play-offs at their first attempt.
2019/20 season saw Liam return to Leeds United for pre-season. However, circumstances at the Club meant that his playing opportunities would be severely restricted if not non-existent. The player made the difficult decision to pursue regular football elsewhere and joined Forest Green Rovers on a 3 year deal. Forest Green Rovers are a forward-thinking progressive Club that like to play entertaining football. A great amount of thought went in to identifying the perfect fit for the ball-playing Centre Back.
Liam made his League 2 debut in a 1-1 draw away to Walsall. Going on to play 36 games across all competitions before the season was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 2020/21 season resumed, albeit a month later than normal but Liam’s impressive performances continued.
Liam has now signed a 4 year deal with Barnsley in a club record fee for Forest Green Rovers. Barnsley is a fantastic club who have a fine record of developing and selling Centre Backs. Collectively we are extremely proud of a young man who is still just 21; that has listened to the advice he has been given and always backed himself to move up the football pyramid.
