In League One; Aaron Morley went head-to-head with Callum Lang in Rochdale’s home game against Wigan Athletic. Callum scored on his first start for the Club with a smart finish, but it was honours even as ‘The Dale’ grabbed a late equaliser in an entertaining 3-3 draw.
It was a memorable week for Blackburn Rovers’ Under 23 goalkeeper Joe Hilton as the 21 year old stopper made an emergency loan move to Fleetwood Town. Thrust straight into action, he made his debut against Hull City on Tuesday in the Pappa John’s Trophy and then made his EFL debut against Portsmouth at the weekend. Although results didn’t go Town’s way, the big man gave a very good account of himself in both games.
Olly Lee went straight into Gillingham’s starting line up following his loan move from Hearts. He was able to celebrate after ‘The Gills’ came away from Accrington Stanley with a 0-1 victory.
In the Scottish Premiership; Martin Boyle’s Hibernian side beat Kilmarnock 2-0 and there was a win for Ross County. Callum Morris returning to the starting line up following injury and playing his part in a 4-1 victory at home to Aberdeen.
Manchester United’s Ella Toone provided the assist in their Women’s Super League top of the table clash away at Chelsea. The current Champions ending up 2-1 winners.
The Women’s Championship saw a fixture that featured three FullNinety players (Taylor Hinds, Kirstie Levell & Hannah Cain). Table-toppers Leicester City won 1-2 and took all three points away from Merseyside in what was considered a must win for Liverpool.
