In the EFL Championship, Coventry City’s unbeaten home run came to a sudden end. Liam Kitching’s side lost 2-0 against Ipswich Town, although ‘The Sky Blues’ sit eight points clear at the top of the table.

Portsmouth carved out a vital three points after beating Charlton Athletic with the last kick of the game. Hayden Matthews and Zak Swanson featured in the dramatic 2-1 victory at Fratton Park.

20 year old Matthew Litherland produced an accomplished display for Blackburn Rovers in the goalless draw at Sheffield Wednesday and was named as the sponsor’s Man of the Match.

New Years Day

Sheffield United continue to climb up the EFL Championship league table following a 3-1 home win against Leicester City. Tyrese Campbell stepped off the substitute’s bench for ‘The Blades’.

19 year old Harry Ashfield made his Championship debut as a substitute in Wrexham’s 2-0 victory at Blackburn. Fellow promising FullNinety youngster Matthew Litherland made another starting appearance for Rovers.

After the euphoria of Monday’s late winner Portsmouth came back down to earth with a bump at Ashton Gate. Zak Swanson and Hayden Matthews featured in the 5-0 defeat at Bristol City.

Liam Kitching’s Coventry City earned another point in their hunt for promotion to the Premier League following the 1-1 draw at Charlton Athletic.

Making his EFL full debut was goalkeeper Jack Barrett who enjoyed a successful day for Tranmere Rovers in League Two. He kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 win at Harrogate Town.

Tom Hamer’s Lincoln City march onwards towards the EFL Championship after their convincing 5-2 victory against Peterborough United at Sincil Bank.

In League Two, MK Dons drew 2-2 with Chesterfield, with Gethin Jones and Ronan Darcy both making appearances.
