Tuesday

Australia travelled to Auckland to take on New Zealand in an international friendly fixture. Hibernian’s Martin Boyle made a substitute appearance in the 3-1 win, while Portsmouth’s Hayden Matthews was also part of the travelling squad. 

Blackburn Rovers loanee goalkeeper Jack Barrett was the hero for Tranmere Rovers in the Vertu Trophy. He made two saves in the shootout and scored the winning penalty (2-2 v Forest). 

Thursday

FullNinety duo Ella Toone and Millie Turner suffered a narrow defeat in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Their Manchester United side lost 1-0 in Norway against SK Brann. ‘The Red Devils’ can redeem themselves in the second leg next week.

Friday

Tyrese Campbell made a 30 minute substitute appearance for Sheffield United in the EFL Championship. ‘The Blades’ slumped to a 5-0 loss at Ipswich Town. 

Saturday 

Coventry grabbed a 96th minute equaliser. Captained by Liam Kitching, City maintain their unbeaten start to the EFL Championship season and occupy a play-off place.

Martin Boyle returned to domestic action at a vibrant Easter Road. Hibernian came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 against Dundee United in the SPL.

Big defender Josh Earl popped up with the opening goal at Oakwell, while fellow ‘Tyke’ Davis Keillor-Dunn scored his5th League One goal of the season. Barnsley ran out 3-2 winners against Reading and occupy 3rd place in the table.

Also in League One, Aaron Morley’s Bolton Wanderers scored an added time goal to draw 1-1 at Leyton Orient.

Dion Pereira assisted his second goal in two games since returning from injury. His Crawley Town side won 2-0 against Cheltenham Town in League Two.

Jonny Smith’s Gillingham dug out a narrow 1-0 win against Notts County and are joint top of League Two after eight games.

Chesterfield earned a point thanks to a late equaliser. Ronan Darcy’s side drew 1-1 with MK Dons at the SMH Group Stadium.

Sunday

Manchester United thumped London City Lionesses 5-1 to record a comfortable victory in the WSL. Ella Toone and Millie Turner both featured in a win that sees United head a fledgling league table.

Reduced to 10 men for the most of the second half, Hannah Cain’s Leicester City battled to 1-0 win against Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.

Bethany England supplied an assist in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win against Everton. Kit Graham made a late substitute appearance at Goodison Park.

In the WSL 2, There was an eight goal thriller at Gander Green Lane where Southampton drew 4-4 against Crystal Palace. Tara Bourne dispatched a penalty-kick, while Jessica Simpson claimed an assist. Fran Stenson and Chloe Arthur also represented the #FullNinetyFamily. Elsewhere in the WSL 2, Georgia Brougham captained Nottingham Forest to a narrow 1-0 success at Ipswich Town.
