Tuesday
Wrexham came from two goals down to knock Hull City out of the Carabao Cup. Elliot Lee scored a first half goal and converted his shootout spot kick, with the Welsh side winning 5-3 on penalties after a 3-3 draw. 19 year old Harry Ashfield gained more valuable first team experience with an impressive showing in midfield.
Also in the Carabao Cup, Australian international Hayden Matthews made his first start of the season after recovering from a serious injury. He completed an accomplished 90 minutes, although Portsmouth lost 2-1 against Reading.
Liam Kitching’s Coventry City edged out Luton Town 1-0 at the CBS Arena and progress into the next round.
Wednesday
Barnsley beat Fleetwood Town 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw. Toby Mullarkey scored at both ends, while Davis Keillor-Dunn was withdrawn at half time with one eye on the weekend’s fixture against Bolton.
Tyrese Campbell got a 30 minute run out in the Carabao Cup. His much changed Sheffield United side exited the competition after a 2-1 defeat at Birmingham City.
Thursday
Martin Boyle’s Hibernian survived a scare in their UEFA Conference League 2nd leg match to progress into the next round. An incredible tie culminated in Hibs scoring a sensational extra-time winner to beat Partizan Belgrade 4-3 on aggregate.
Saturday
In the EFL Championship, 3 goals in 7 minutes saw Coventry City complete an incredible turnaround at Pride Park. Liam Kitching captained his side to a 5-3 victory against Derby County.
Elsewhere in the Championship, there were disappointing defeats for Elliot Lee’s Wrexham, Callum Lang’s Portsmouth and Tyrese Campbell’s Sheffield United.
A trio of FullNinety clients featured in the League One fixture at Oakwell. Josh Earl, Davis Keillor-Dunn and Aaron Morley all contributed as Barnsley drew 1-1 against Bolton Wanderers.
Tom Barkhuizen assisted the opening goal for his new club Barrow. The Cumbrians beat Notts County 2-1 in League Two.
