Tuesday

Callum Lang won a first half penalty and scored a late winner for Wigan Athletic in a 2-1 win at Huddersfield Town. The Latics have made a solid start to life in the EFL Championship and occupy 8th position.

In League One; Bolton Wanderers had a night to remember thanks to Gethin Jones. The former Everton academy graduate won a penalty and scored the winning goal during a 2-0 win at MK Dons.

Barnsley central defender Liam Kitching scored his first EFL goal after ghosting in at the far post during the 1-1 draw with Port Vale.

League Two form side Salford City won on their travels. Luke Bolton impressed again during the 1-0 win at Harrogate Town.

Also in the 4th tier; there were wins for Ronan Darcy’s Swindon Town and Dion Pereira’s Bradford City.

There was a  comprehensive 4-1 win for Elliot Lee’s Wrexham, and Jamie Stott’s Halifax Town won 2-0  in the National League.

Thursday

Hearts picked up an excellent away win in the Europa Conference League. Barrie McKay’s men beat Rigas Futbola Skola 2-0 in Latvia.

Saturday

Martin Boyle dispatched the equalising penalty as Hibernian came from behind to beat Aberdeen 3-1 at Easter Road.

Stoke City had to settle for a point at QPR. Tyrese Campbell made his return following injury and was introduced as a second half substitute. The sides played out a lively goalless draw at Loftus Road.

Manchester United kicked off the WSL season with a resounding 4-0 victory over Reading. Lioness heroine Ella Toone featured at Leigh Sports Village.

Reigning Welsh Champions TNS smashed 7 goals without reply at Cardiff MU. Goal machine Declan McManus helped himself to a brace with a goal in each half.

A late goal for Bolton Wanderers was enough to take home the points in League One. Defender Gethin Jones guided his side to another clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Peterborough.

Liam Kitching experienced the highs and lows of football at Oakwell. He provided a first half assist but later on got sent off following a second yellow card. His Barnsley side comprehensively beat Cambridge 3-0.

Ronan Darcy’s Swindon were rewarded following their trip to South Yorkshire. Town came away with a 1-0 win at Doncaster Rovers.

Hereford beat Bromsgrove 1-0 with pacy winger Ryan McLean grabbing the only goal in FA Cup Qualifying.

Sunday

Heart of Midlothian capped a great week’s work with another win. Barrie McKay’s men won 3-0 away at Motherwell and move up to 3rd position in the SPL.

Liverpool made a dream start to life in the WSL. Taylor Hinds and Megan Campbell celebrated a 2-1 win against Chelsea after trailing to an early goal. #FullNinetyFamily
