Callum Lang produced a top drawer Championship performance for Wigan Athletic in front of the Sky Sports cameras at the DW Stadium. The Latics faced promotion hopefuls Sheffield United but slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat despite their late rally.

Former Manchester City graduate Luke Bolton featured for Salford City who beat Port Vale 1-0 in the Papa John’s Trophy.

A solitary strike by defender Toby Mullarkey was enough to see Altrincham beat Curzon Ashton in the FA Trophy 3rd Round.

Wednesday

Elliot Lee capped his evening off with a late goal as Wrexham progress into the FA Trophy 4th Round. They beat Scunthorpe United 3-1 at The Racecourse Ground.

Thursday

Bethany England’s Chelsea made light work of their UEFA Women’s Champions League fixture against Paris St Germain. The Blues coasted to a 3-0 victory and now compete in the knockout stages after topping Group A.

Christmas Eve

An injury time penalty rescued a point for Edinburgh giants Heart of Midlothian. Barrie McKay’s men drew 2-2 at Dundee United in the SPL.

Boxing Day

Jamie Lindsay faced off against fellow FullNinety players Tyrese Campbell and Harry Souttar at The New York Stadium. It finished honours even following a 2-2 draw between Rotherham and Stoke in the EFL Championship. Tyrese grabbed another goal for his second in three games.

Barnsley collected a hard earned point at Accrington thanks to a 1-1 draw. Liam Kitching was solid at the back for the South Yorkshire League One side.

Also battling to a 1-1 draw was Luke Bolton’s Salford City who were reduced to 10 men in the first half against Barrow.

Ed Francis was in the starting line up for Notts County who continue their march to the National League title. County beat Ben Tollitt’s Oldham 4-1 at Meadow Lane.

Wrexham stay hot on the heels of Notts County after they hammered Solihull Moors 5-0. Elliot Lee enjoyed himself in front of a 10,150 crowd at The Racecourse Ground. The North Wales side have now made a Club record equalling 15 straight wins at home in all competitions.
