Monday

MK Dons won 2-0 at Walsall as they close in on the League Two automatic promotion places. Gethin Jones used his experience to orchestrate a pivotal clean sheet.

Tuesday

Callum Lang supplied an assist on his full debut for Preston North End. Only an added time goal denied ‘The Lilywhites’ all three points at Swansea City (1-1).

Also in the EFL Championship, the influential Zak Swanson scored for Portsmouth although his side were unfortunate to lose 2-1 at Wrexham.

Wednesday

Sheffield United couldn’t build on their ‘Steel City’ derby victory last time out. They lost 2-1 against Championship leaders Coventry City, with Tyrese Campbell making a late cameo from the substitute’s bench.

Friday

In League Two, Harrogate Town drew 1-1 with Cheltenham Town, where Jack Evans went head-to-head with Harry Ashfield in midfield.

Saturday

In the EFL Championship, Tyrese Campbell scored the winning goal with a thunderous strike from outside the box in Sheffield United’s 2-0 victory at Queens Park Rangers.

Also in England’s second tier, Zak Swanson’s Portsmouth (0-1) and Callum Lang’s Preston North End (0-2) suffered disappointing home defeats.

In Scotland, Barrie McKay made an instant impact on his debut for Livingston. He supplied an assist with a brilliant cross in the 1-1 draw against St Mirren.

Also with an assist was Australian international Martin Boyle who’s Hibernian drew 3-3 at Dundee in the SPL.

Lincoln City thumped Blackpool 4-0 at Sincil Bank. Tom Hamer’s men reinforced their second place position in League One.

Aaron Morley’s Wycombe Wanderers beat Burton Albion 3-0 at Adams Park to move to within two points of the League One play-off places.
