Barnsley missed the chance to close the gap on the automatic League One promotion spots. Liam Kitching’s men slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Exeter City, however they remain firmly in the hunt.

Two second half goals were enough for Halifax to earn a 2-0 home win against Aldershot. Defenders Tylor Golden and Jamie Stott combined to keep the visitors at bay.

Ed Francis’ loan move to Gateshead continues to pay dividends. A 2-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge lifts them out of the National League relegation places.

Friday

Luke Bolton was back in action for Salford City, who made the short trip to local rivals Stockport County. League Two’s form sides played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Edgeley Park.

Saturday

Manchester United faced Brighton in the FA Women’s Super League. Ella Toone completed another impressive 90 minutes during the 4-0 thrashing on the south coast.

Harry Souttar returned to domestic action following his time away with the Australian international squad. Disappointingly for Harry his Leicester City side slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

Tyrese Campbell hit top form for Stoke City in the EFL Championship. He scored one goal and assisted another in the 4-0 hammering away at Coventry City.

Wigan Athletic dug out a 1-0 win against Queen’s Park Rangers. Callum Lang had a big say in the victory at the DW Stadium.

Jamie Lindsay’s Rotherham United had to battle hard for their point during the goalless draw at Hull City.

Barnsley put their midweek disappointment behind them thanks to a 5-0 win against Morecambe. Liam Kitching featured for ‘The Tykes’ at Oakwell.

Elliot Lee’s brilliant strike was the highlight at the Racecourse Ground. Wrexham maintain their stranglehold at the top of the National

League after a 5-1 win over Oldham Athletic.

Declan McManus scored a clinical hat-trick for The New Saints. The newly crowned Welsh Premier League champions won 5-0 at Newtown.

Halifax are heading to Wembley for the FA Trophy Final! Jamie Stott scored his spot-kick in the penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw. Tylor Golden will join Jamie in the capital for the final in May.

Ryan McLean grabbed a goal for Hereford. The 1-1 draw with Boston United also saw Aaron Holloway complete 90 minutes.

Sunday

Gethin Jones and Aaron Morley enjoyed a fabulous day out at Wembley Stadium in the Papa John’s Trophy Final. Their Bolton Wanderers side comfortably dispatched Plymouth Argyle 4-0 to lift the trophy. Gethin nodded home the winning goal from Aaron’s perfect corner-kick delivery.

A Bethany England assist wasn’t enough for Tottenham Hotspur who slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Everton.

Also in the WSL; Hannah Cain’s added time assist earned Leicester a 2-1 home win against Reading, who featured Emma Harries and Faye Bryson. #FullNinetyFamily
