Tyrese Campbell scored with a brilliant finish to open his season’s account for Sheffield United in the EFL Championship. ‘The Blades’ failed to capitalise on their lead and lost 2-1 against Southampton at Bramall Lane.

Also in the Championship, George Brown continues to make the most of his first team opportunity at Sheffield Wednesday. The 19 year old striker scored within 7 minutes of his second half introduction in the 2-2 draw at Birmingham City.

In the Vertu Trophy, Davis Keillor-Dunn captained Barnsley and scored a goal, although his side lost 2-1 against Notts County.

Also getting himself on the scoresheet was Tom Hamer of Lincoln City. His side beat Manchester United U21s 3-0 in the Vertu Trophy.

Wednesday

Coventry City made a statement in their quest for Premier League football, as they moved up to second place in the EFL Championship table. Liam Kitching’s men thumped Millwall 4-0 in South London.

Friday

The top of the table clash in the Women’s Super League endedall square after Manchester United drew 1-1 against Chelsea. Lioness Ella Toone supplied the assist for United’s goal.

Saturday

Liam Kitching’s Coventry City hammered Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 at Hillsborough to reach the summit of the EFL Championship table after 9 games.

Sheffield United’s struggles continue despite the best efforts of Tyrese Campbell. ‘The Blades’ lost 1-0 at Hull City in the second tier.

Davis Keillor-Dunn scored his 7th goal of the season for Barnsley at Adams Park. ‘The Tykes’ took a two goal lead but had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Wycombe Wanderers.

In the Scottish Premier League, a late goal condemned Hibernian to defeat in the Edinburgh derby. Martin Boyle’s side lost 1-0 against city rivals Hearts at Tynecastle Park.

Sunday

In the Women’s Super League, Welsh international Hannah Cain featured for Leicester City in the 1-1 draw against Everton at the King Power Stadium.

Also in the WSL, Bethany England and Ashleigh Neville completed 90 minutes of action in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.

In the WSL 2, Southampton won 2-1 away at Birmingham City. Tara Bourne, Jess Simpson and Fran Stenson represented the #FullNinetyFamily at St Andrews.

Kirsty Smith & Georgia Brougham helped Nottingham Forest to a convincing win at The City Ground, beating Portsmouth 4-1.
