Tuesday

England turned around a half time deficit to beat Iran 2-1 in the FIFA U17 World Cup. Chelsea defender Ishé Samuels-Smith completed the 90 minutes, with his side sitting at the top of Group C .

Toby Mullarkey’s Grimsby Town made it through to the FA Cup first round following replay success against Slough Town. The convincing 7-2 win sets up a tie against Oxford United.

Derby County made an early exit from the FA Cup against Crewe Alexandra at Pride Park. Tom Barkhuizen opened the scoring before his side slipped to a 3-1 loss.

Dan Pike and Jonny Smith both made starting appearances in the EFL Trophy at Prenton Park. Tranmere drew 0-0 against Wigan, with the visitors taking the bonus point after a penalty shootout.

Bolton Wanderers’ 100% record in the EFL Trophy Groupphase sees them progress into the knockout stages. Aaron Morley and Gethin Jones featured during their 2-0 victory at Stockport County.

Thursday

Harry Souttar’s bullet header opened the scoring for ‘The Socceroos’ in their World Cup qualifying match against Bangladesh. Australia won 7-0 to get their campaign off to a flying start.

Friday

Having already qualified for the knockout stages of the FIFA U17 World Cup, Ishé Samuels-Smith was rested for England’s final group game. The young lions narrowly lost 2-1 against Brazil. 

Saturday

Liverpool suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at Chelsea in the WSL. Taylor Hinds and Lucy Parry will be looking to move on quickly with League Cup action up next for them. 

Toby Mullarkey’s Grimsby clawed themselves back into the game at Forest Green Rovers to earn themselves a 2-2 draw.

In the National League; Tylor Golden and Jamie Stott featured for Halifax Town in their 1-0 home win against Wealdstone. 

Ed Francis made a late substitute appearance for Gateshead in the 2-0 victory at Barnet. 

A solitary strike was enough for Oldham Athletic to claim all 3 points away at Woking, where Josh Lundstram completed 90 minutes. 

Sunday

In the FA Women’s Super League; Emma Bissell made a substitute appearance for Everton in her side’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City.

Hannah Cain supplied an early assist for Leicester City, but were pegged back by Ashleigh Neville’s Tottenham Hotspur(1-1).

Emma Harries & Kirsty Smith both started for West Ham and will feel hard done by having conceded a last minute Aston Villa goal to lose at home 2-3.

The final fixture of the weekend took place at Old Trafford, where United hosted City in the Manchester derby. Ella Toone’s team secured an early lead but slipped to a disappointing 3-1 defeat. #FullNinetyFamily
