There was European disappointment in Edinburgh as Hibernian suffered a 5-0 home defeat against Aston Villa in the Europa Conference League playoff. Despite the result, it was great to see Martin Boyle complete his first 90 minutes of action since sustaining a serious knee injury last year.

Thursday

Heart of Midlothian slipped to a narrow 2-1 Conference playoff loss against PAOK Salonika. Barrie McKay’s men will fancy their chances of turning that around during the second leg in Greece.

Friday

Halifax rescued a point against National League form side Solihull Moors. Tylor Golden, Jamie Stott and Jack Evans all featured during the 1-1 draw.

Saturday

Tyrese Campbell made his much anticipated return to EFL Championship action following injury. He made a half-time substitute appearance for Stoke City in their narrow 1-0 loss at Millwall.

Martin Boyle got on the scoresheet for Hibernian at Easter Road, although his side lost 3-2 against Ross County in the SPL.

Bolton Wanderers returned from Burton Albion with a point after a 1-1 draw in League One. Gethin Jones completed 90 minutes of action, while Aaron Morley was an unused substitute.

Callum Lang’s Man of the Match display was the highlight at the DW Stadium. 10 man Wigan Athletic lost 2-0 against Barnsley in League One.

Salford City also tasted defeat at home, where Accrington Stanley spoiled Luke Bolton’s fine performance (1-2).

Wrexham had to work hard for their point away at Barrow. Another clinical Elliot Lee penalty-kick secured a 1-1 draw. Lee becoming only the second player in Wrexham’s history to score in each of the first 5 games of a Season.

Also in League Two; Toby Mullarkey featured for Grimsby Town. They drew 1-1 away at Walsall. #FullNinetyFamily
